    Default Babysitting charges

I have decided to add babysitting as an extra as enquiries are so quiet around here at the moment. Would you charge the same rate as your childminding fee? I currently charge £3.00 per hour and I have been approached by a mum of twin babies for a few hours Friday and Sat nights. What would you charge?

I charge £25 for any hours between 7pm and midnight. £8 per hr after midnight! I wouldn't give up an evening for less than £25.

My usual cm rate is £4.50 but I charge £5 for evening babysitting. I put my rate up after a parent starting asking for just a couple of hours starting at 8.30! Meant I lost a whole evening for less than a tenner!

Apologies if it seems like I'm hijacking this thread but I was just wondering what people do for multiple children? It is just the same rate regardless?

Our CM fee is £3.50 per hour but we have a friend who wants to use us for one night a week as this is the shift she has been given at work. She has 4 children so this would normally be charged at £13 per hour but this seems silly as it is a night slot. We have told her that she could probably get a babysitter cheaper but she says she woud rather use us. She does get most of her childcare costs paid through tax credit so her contribution wouldn't be muh more than a babysitter would charge but we just feel a bit harsh.
