just wanted to know if parents take the same holiday time as you should you still get paid
I never used to charge if my setting was not open for business. If I was available to have the children then I would charge. So if the setting is shut cos I was on holiday I would not have charged.(should say that I was a minder in England from 2001 but have had to re-register when moved to Wales )
me too.
I take 5 weeks holiday a year which is unpaid. it is then up to the parent if they want to take the same weeks so they don't have to pay. fortunately upto now they've all had weeks differen to mine. in fact last one was 3 weeks off and I still got paid!!
Yes
if we are on hoilday are unable to look after the children- they dont pay
We allow them 5 weeks hoilday a year on half fee's if there use all the five weeks up and wont more then there have to pau full fee's
I'm the same as Tulip & Annie.

I think it depends on how you've worded your contracts. Some childminders round here do stipulate paid annual leave, ie, they get paid if they are on holiday, and the number of days is stated in their contracts.
Personally, I don't take money when I'm on holiday, so it's free for the parents, but I charge slightly more per hour the rest of the year to cover things like holiday pay. I explain all this when parents come for a visit.
so it's up to you, really!
Good luck,
Hilary
I dont charge my parents for the weeks I have off on holiday but if they choose to go on holiday then I charge them half fee.

It's up to you to decide what you want to do.
I charge parents for their holidays but don't charge for mine as I mind for too many families to be able to please them all.
I do also put in the contracts that I am entitled to two weeks holiday pay a year - this stops those families who never have any holidays except when I'm on holiday being better off than those families who take their holidays whenever and pay in full iyswim

All my work is part time so I don't charge when I am on holiday or when they are on holiday as it isn't set hours each week and I don't have the children in the holidays.
When I was working full time though I would charge half fee when they are on holiday and charge nothing when i went on holiday.
I know a few minders near me who charge full fee when they are on holiday and full fee when the parents are on holiday as well
I don't charge when I am on holiday as I am not here to offer my service
Parents pay full fees for their time off though

I don't charge for my hols, parents can have 2 wks free and 2 wks half fee if they are all yr round, and just the 2 wks half fee if they are tto, although being new to all this I will probably think differently next year!
I'm not going to charge for my holidays but will charge for parents holidays,if only got one parent will try and organise my holiday the same time, but will still charge them.

Hi
I take 4 weeks holiday per year - Unpaid
I do charge full rate if parents have different time off than me as I am available to work.
I don't charge for bank holidays either
I have found the fairest way is to charge half fees for all holidays, parents and mine, I tell them this right from the start and it is written in my contracts, no-one has ever complained. I have heard from other childminders that if you are charging full fees for parents hols and then no fees for your hols then parents will actually wait until you book your hols and take the same time off. When this happens you end up losing out and that's not fair, everyone needs holiday pay
I have 4 weeks holiday for me at full pay written into my contracts. parents get up to 4 weeks at half pay as long as its taken separately from mine - also written in. Never had any problems with it.
I don't charge when I am on holiday, and charge half for 4 weeks parent's holidays. Any more than 4 weeks they pay in full!
