    Default Picking up mindee

Just after some advice re collection of mindee. I have agreed to collect them and take them home. Is it ok to charge for my petrol (was going to charge 40p per mile)? It's not far away but when you do it twice a day it adds up.

depending on distance I would be looking to charge at least 1 hour fee per trip... at the very very least... it is not just petrol, think of your time, inconvenience, wear on your car etc.

Although I dont "collect" mindee I do just the school run and charge £7 per day... If I was collecting mindee I would be looking at charging about £10 per day for collection, then per hour from when I leave my house in the morning

You cannot charge for petrol - its something about being classed as a taxi...

You could however charge a higher rate

You also have to think about what you would do if your car was off the road, your own child was ill, snow, etc

Thanks Emma. It's only 2 miles away so won't take me long at all.

Thanks Tashalee I did think at the back of my mind I couldn't charge for that reason. Will have to have a rethink and charge them a collection/dropping off fee.

I have just offered to pick up a mindee and will require drop off on occasion too. She lives a 45 min walk away with no car - to me it's a 10 min drive.....I thought - I will need to leave home 15 mins before her start time- 1/4 of my fees is 87p - so rounded it up to £1 - and said add £1 on per pick up/drop off to daily fees. She seems happy with the arrangement and is just awaiting confirmation of work hours next week before committing to anything

Thanks TinyTinker. We agreed a similar arrangement too which they were happy with.
