    Default Jan 2nd

Hi looking for some confirmation/opinions please...

I charge for bank holidays but don't work them.

I have a term time only mindee...fees only payable whilst mum (teacher) works.

So, mindee back on Jan 3rd, should I charge for Jan 2nd?

I think yes, but just wanted to see opinions.

    Thank you!

I would say no, if Mum's not at work then how can you charge?

As far as I;m aware term starts on Tuesday 3 January so if you only charge when mum works then I would say no you shouldn't charge.

Just out of interest what do you do when it's May Day, do you charge or not?

I agree with Miffy, if you have a term time contract and term doesn't start till 3rd Jan, you can't really charge for the bank holiday on the 2nd

I also think if term starts on jan 3rd then that is when you can charge from. The bank hol is before term starts back, so its not included.

Well I'm glad I asked, thank you all!! I will not charge as what you say makes sense.

May Day? Is that a bank holiday in normal term time and not part of another holiday? If so I would charge.

Usually the first Monday in May and just a Bank Holiday on it's own, not usually attached to any other holiday like Easter or Half Term. I do charge for this - it's the only BH my teacher parents pay for as all others are in school holidays.

If the child is normally with you on a Mon then yes I would charge on the same basis as you charge for May Bank holiday.

    on a similar note.....
Our school has an inset day on Tuesday 3rd, would you charge the term time only children still or not? School hasn't "officially" gone back so am unsure if that counts or not. Children are all back to school on Wednesday 4th.

    Paula

I charge for when I'm open so

if a BH falls for all year round mindees I charge. If they are T-time then I only charge for BH's that fall in term-time.

Inset days ARE term-time so you are entitled to charge whether parents send the children or not.

    Hello

can you tell me why you charge for bank holidays if you don't work them? How can you charge if you're not providing a service? Just interested in how that works!

I don't know about everybody else but if i do not work them because the parent chooses not to send the child in then they get charged, but if I don't work them because I don't want to then they don't get charged. (Obviously only for contracted days, i.e. if a child was tuesday to friday I wouldn't charge for the monday IYSWIM)

I charge for BH as the majority of parents don't work and are paid. I choose not to work them as I too want to enjoy a day off.

I can charge as it's my own business and I set my policies, parents aren't forced to sign my contracts, it's their choice.
