    Default Invoices

    Hi all,

Just printing out invoice for my first parents (yay) and my husband said I should show a proper breakdown of the hours and it should also have my address, their address and my tax number on?? Is this correct?

This is how I have set mine up, I will give a copy to parents, keep a copy in filing cabinet and also a copy on disk.

Please tell me hubby is wrong and what I've done is ok!!!!! lol

Information that invoices must contain taken from Business link so I persume it is correct.

All invoices should clearly state that this is what they are with the word 'invoice'.

They should also include the following:

    a unique identification number
your company name, address and contact information
the company name and address of the customer you are invoicing
a clear description of what you are charging for
the date the goods or service were provided
    the date of the invoice
    the amount(s) being charged
    VAT amount if applicable
    the total amount owed

In addition, if you are a limited company, sole trader and/or VAT registered, the law requires you to provide certain information on any invoices you send to your customers.

    Sole traders' invoices
A sole trader must have the following additional information on their invoices:

the trader's name or any business name being used
an address where any legal documents can be delivered to you if you are using a business name

This info has come from Business Link which is the government's online resource for business, a great website for small businesses, I hope it all makes sense.

All my parents pay by vouchers and top up by bank transfer so I don't give any receipts. No-one gives me cash. If they did I would write them a receipt.
