    Default Babysitting Charges

Hi, I have been approached (through facebook) by someone who saw my add on Childcare.co.uk but had not paid there subscription and wanted to know if I was available for Babysitting. I said yes and she asked to read my ofsted report and also to have the numbers for two references. We have arranged to meet before hand to introduce ourselves. The lady has three children age 2, 8 and 11 and wants a babysitter on bank holiday weekend, saturday 8.30 to 12/1ish. What would you charge for this. I would have to drive as its about 3/4 miles away and dont want to charge by the hour just a flat fee for the evenings work. I asked the lady what she normally paids and she said £5 per hour was the normal hourly rate but not sure if I want to do it for £20.

What do you think is reasonable I was thinking more £35 before midnight and if over it goes to £40, am I being unreasonable. I also need reasons to justify this amount and how to sell it to her as not worth meeting her if she is not prepared to pay my fees.

I use a baby sitter - I normaly pay 35.00 but 10 of that goes on taxi fare home - I also leave 10.00 for take away as my daughter is 12 and enjoys take away. I also use another girl who drives so I pay her 35.00. If I pick up and drop of babysitter I pay 25.00. Sometimes I babysit at home I charge £20.00 from 7 til 11.00. Cut a long story short £35.00 is very reasonable.
