    Default WWYD?

i have a little boy (aged 1) all year and charge the family for the whole year (obviously)

He has a big sister (still in EYFS group) at full time school and mum occasionally wants me to have her daughter in the school holidays

I have a new mum who would like to put her baby in with me but if i take on the baby, i can't then accept the older sibling in the holidays.

I can't afford to turn the baby away though as she will be coming 3 days a week, every week and not just ad hoc holiday days.

Do I just tell the 1st mum that i will no longer be able to offer ad hoc care to her daughter through the holidays?

Is the big sister in full time school? If so she will be classed as a rising 5 and will count as your over 5 numbers

    would this make a difference?

Plus if you took on the baby, you could probably get a variation for the other girl in holidays due to sibling continuity of care. But as said she would count as an over 5 if in full time school.

so if the sibling counts as an over 5, do i still need to do EYFS paperwork for her?

Yes if she is in the age group e.g. before the August after her 5th birthday (hope I've written that right - doesn't sound right) but possibly not as much as for a full time child - recently seen a post on a two month contract which would give an example of what you could do.

I was in your situation last year and took on the baby hoping that I would be able to get a variation for the schooler (I was over my EYFS numbers) and I did based on 'continuity of care' It only took 2 weeks to be confirmed and certificate arrived in plenty of time for the school holidays.

    Hope this helps

EYFS goes up till the 31st Aug AFTER the childs 5th birthday - so effectively until they go into Y1.
