    Default Babysitting Fees

    Hi all,
Just wanted a bit of advice really and I know you are all full of that!!
I have just started out and while I am waiting for my first mindees I am considering offering babysitting services.
Thing is I haven't got a clue what I would charge people for this.
Is it the norm to charge hourly, by the night or what?? Confuuused!!
I live in Wirral, Merseyside so anyone local to me that can help it would be much appreciated!
    Thanks guys xx

I would base it upon the amount of hours that you will be required.
It's a long time since I did any babysitting but used to get £5 an hour and am still in touch with the girls now, although they are a lot older now!!

Dd is 17 and gets £5 an hour, time and a half after midnight and her lift home (taxi or they bring her).

If she is there over a meal time then they feed her too.

I pay our babysitter £6 per hour but often people charge £7 /8 per hour if they are childcare professionals (we are in herts).

Why don't you have a look on childcare.co.uk and see what people in your area are charging for babysitting? Good luck.

Do most people also pay taxi home? We keep getting quoted £7-£8 ph here in Scotland, seems a bit steep to me..
