She wants to come and live in Surrey, then she'd have a shock. I'm one of the cheapest ( no cheap gags thank you ) and I charge £4 per hour.

Perhaps she wanted you to pay her for the privilege of looking after her little darling. As i have said before you pay peanuts you get monkeys (no disrespect)

    Exactly!!

    Even higher where I am!

The going rate is anywhere between £5 - £6.50 per hour!

Now I really would have problems with my tax if I was charging that an hour!

That is why I don't charge any extra's for food or outings/activites etc.

I also spend quite a lot of money on resources and extra luxuries for the kids.

I would rather the kids benefited than give it to the taxman

Me too - some of the lower rates are downrate degrading!! There aren't many people who would work for such a small amount these days.

I think childminders should be paid a decent wage considering the importance of their jobs. I wonder how the nationwide differences in hourly rates developed?

Silly woman! What the heck is she on about thinking £2.75 is a lot, what does she expect you to have her child for £1 or for free? Weird!
