I charge my normal rate but don't work. This is my only 'paid' holidays.
If I am available to work/they want me to work then its charged at a premium rate

I charge a higher rate if people want me to work on the bank holiday, otherwise I charge their normal fee.

I always feel slightly guilty about bank holidays - I am available to work them, so I charge my normal rate if parents decide to not send their children and doulble rate if they do.
I chose to do it this way as most other childminders do, and will continue to but I always feel like I have these parents over a barrel!

Mondays are my day off so I'm not availble on a Monday anyway. If you are not willing to work a Bank hol, then you can't really charge for it.

I didn't charge for last bank holiday as I don't work them and put on fees sheet if worked paid double rate.

But my area co ordinater said I could charge for them. Always thought that if you didn't work you didn't get paid.

Would it not depend on your contracts. I dont work so dont charge. One of my mums sometimes comes on a monday, and is contracted for a min of 10 hours per week, we usually fit the 10 hours in at some point during the week, but not on the monday

Hi. I have always charged full fee for bank holidays if children would normally have attended on that day but have never worked them. Everyone else gets paid for them is my view and if the family is getting tax credit help even more reason to keep fees unchanged. Never had a parent disagree with it in 13 years of childminding. Cx
