    Question Babysitting??

A parent of whom I used to look after her youngest son has approached me and asked me to babysit her two children this Saturday from 6pm through to 11pm maybe later.

What would you charge for this?

To anyone enquiring, it would have usually have been double time, per hour, per child but this seems a bit extreme, especially for someone I know well.

Looking for advice, she wants me to get back to her today on cost.

I babysit two girls I nanny for once a week. I charged £8 per hour. I know there's people who charged more.

I work for a sitting company at weekends and with them my hourly rate is £6.25 min of 4 hours.
If everyone else is charging £8 I might go it alone.

It'd be worth it for £8 p/h. I would however be a little upset if I only got paid £20, especially as it's family time for me and I work full time during the week. Just my opinion though. Wouldn't want it as a regular thing to be honest, I'm simply doing them a favour as no-one else they asked could do it.

Thanks for the replies, very helpful (as always!)

i would charge £7 an hour as this is my overtime rate. This would be per hour not per child and i would not want to be out past 1am.

I'd say £8 ph is more than reasonable, after all it's a Saturday and the evening!

    xx
