    Default Charges - Help!!

    Hi all,

I have recently registered and am looking to start up my childminding business in the next couple of months (had a baby last week so am currently on mat leave but then will be hopefully childminding).

I am not sure where to start when it comes to fees and charges, what you do and don't charge for in the way of food, nappies etc etc.

What is the average hourly rate, I am in Swindon so a mid sized town???

Any advice anyone can offer will be very gratefully received!!

    Thank you! Laura

really you need to know what all the other minders in your area are charging.

I am in Scotland and charge £3.50 per hour this included snacks and drinks and charge £1.00 per day if they require lunch. I don't provide evening meals.

I plan on going up to £3.80 in the summer.

    My parents supply nappies

hey I'm in london and charge £6.25 per hour but thats exclusive ( just my DS of the same age) Food, nappies etc are on top and we have a kitty for outings. So more of a nanny arrangement I think.
Local childminders charge £4-4.50 inc food and nappies.
    Congrats on the baby!

    Hi
I think it depends on your area, we all charge the same at mo, £3.30.
however, a new childminder has just set up and is charging £4.20ph, thats way too much for our arrea, needless to say, they have lots of space.
talk to other childminders & attend drop ins, there you will meet cm in your area and help you decide
    congratulations on baby!
i went back to cm when mine was 5 weeks old it was too soon.
    Julie
