    Default Overnight Care

    Hi everyone,

I would value your advice and ideas - I have recently become registered for overnight care, and have no idea on how much to charge! I don't know if any of my parents will want overnights, but thought it would be an extra service to offer.

    Help please!!

    Many thanks,
    Hilary

I offer overnight care because we live on RAF married quarters and I thougt that with the funny shifts and detatchments that come with RAF jobs it might be a valuable service.

I have had one little girl stay overnight once!

I charged my usual hourly rate throughout the night, as although it meant I was working until she went to bed, I didn't want to charge a premium rate as for the rest of the night I would be paid whilst I was asleep. I collected her from nursery at 5pm and then dropped her back at nursery the following day at 8.30, so #3.50 x 15.5 hours = #54.25. In retrospect I think this may have been a little too much, although it is a big responsibility to have child stay the night, it also has to be affordable for the parents.

I would definatley advertise the fact that you offer/are registered for overnight care, but you'll have to decide how much you need to earn to make it worth your while and cross that with how much parents are prepared/can afford to pay.

Thanks for your advice - it doesn't sound if many people offer overnight care - but that's not really surprising I suppose as we're all so tired out!
