I charge 4.50 an hour and I'm in Herts. I know that is about average because I've looked into it.

Can't believe guys charge 7 pounds upwards in Surrey, but also can't believe that some go as low as 10 or 18 pounds a day!!

I understand that obviously some areas of the country are considered more affluent but 18 a day seems very low to me. Considering the amount of work we have to do and the responsibility.

not sure I would do a whole day for that, especially with my current 21month tazmanian devil!!!

Don't mean to be judgemental guys,I'm just shocked.
Just noticed that you are in herts, are you in a posh bit! I charge £4 for full time, and am going to start £4.50 part time, and short term contract/part time hours £5 per hour.

I don't do daily rates or sibling rates, i provide lunch and snacks but not evening meals in the price.

I'm in Surrey and only charge £4.50 per hour. I took on a new one last September and charged £5 per hour and their contract is up for renewal and fee will be raised to £5.50 per hour.

Where in Surrey do you live that you can charge £7?

I'm in Herts too and I charge £4.50 per hour 20 or more hours a week
£5 per hour for under 20 per week. There are some people in St Albans, the Chalfonts and now I noticed the other day in Harrow who are charging £6-7 per hour! so maybe a revision is due?

No daily rate and it includes all meals outtings, parents provide nappies and formula milk- oh and the children of course!!!

    West London (Zone 2)

I charge £6 per hour standard
    £7 ph for ad hoc
£60 per day (up to 12 hours...long hours here as parents often commute!!)
    £250 per 5 day week

I guess I am about average round here..there are people who charge less and people who charge more.

This is my first post - I am new to this forum game, but not to childminding!

I live in West London, and charge £5 an hour, with a reduction for siblings. I include food in this. I don't think my parents would be able to afford much more - it would not be worth them working!

    Hi Mrs B team.

In answer to your question about whether i'm in a posh area of Herts, absolutely not!!!! Having said that I suppose we were relatively affluent before the recession took hold.I do think that alot of my peers were living far beyond their means and are now suffering for it. I think my area just appears to be affluent 'cos there are alot of mums who drive huge cars.

What they don't tell anyone is that their cars actually belong to the bank

Also hi to Julie W, I'm really shocked that you quoted a rate of 15 pounds.Do you seriously charge that for a whole day? Or have I read your post wrong?

Lol, me neither, just i know that herts has really wide ranges in the affluency of the areas and how much cm's can get per hour. I am in Hemel, and we don't get as much as St Albans, but that can work in our favour if St Albans parents work this way and realise quality is as good for less money!

I charge 3.50 an hour in a fairly low income area of west sussex. I've got a baby mindee who is doing 12 hour days and I felt guilty for ages that is was £42 a day, googled nursery prices and everything! Then decided he gets fantastic care and is here 12 hours which a nursery wouldn't do anyway! Have left my charges hourly.... might review but it seems to work!

    Hi

I am in stoke on Trent and no offence to the other minders on here, but I would not work for £18 per day! My lowest fee at mo for my f/t mindee is £110 per week, but that's because they are on old fees and I don't have the heart to put it up yet. Think I may in September.

I have just done a new contract for £30 per day ( ).

My afterschoolers pay £3.00 per hour, but that is only because I have to compete with the after school club. My parents think this is cheap. We'll see what they think when I put my new policy into place about fees going up in September (lol).

I have researched this and it seems to be the average. I do each contract based on hours and go from there. I am full for my under 5's and doing well for before/after school (have had loads of enquiries but not taken them all up as they haven't been what I am looking for, learn't to trust my first instinct now and to not jump in, but to choose what's best for me, my family and current mindees).

My childminder friend charges £120 per week and £3.50 per hour with no probs.

Go on put your fees up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You deserve it!

    (gone smiley mad)

    Hi
I'm in the South East and I have two full time mindees:

One is here 8:30am to 4:30pm, brings a packed lunch and all their snacks and I charge them £3.50/hour which works out at £140 a week.

The other is here 9:30 to 4pm and I provide all the food and snacks and charge them £3.75/hour

I charge £1 a day extra for a hot evening meal, £2 a week for playgroups, over time is £1 an hour extra ie £4.50/£4.75. I don't work weekends, overnight or bank holidays. The parents provide nappies and wipes.

Interesting to read everyone else's charges and how much they vary up and down the county.

    Hi

I am on London/Surrey borders and charge £40 per day or £5.00 per hour part time. Plus parents pay for all playgroup fees, swimming farm trips other outings etc.

Check your local FIS as if you are seeking a childminder yourself and see what people are charging in your area.

    Good luck.

SW London - £6 per hour full day, £7 per hour under 5 hours. No age differentiation. £5 per hour for siblings. This includes all food, sncaks, outings etc. No extra charges. hth! It really depends on your area.
