fees whilst at playschool?

I have a parent comming tommoro that would like me to care for their child before and after playschool, as yet i have not come accrross this and so don't know what to do about fees when they are at playschool, obviously i cant fill that space but then again i would feel bad about charging the parent when the child isnt here and also need the buisness.
what you all do or do you do in this situation.

One of my LO's is starting nursery school after xmas, I am charging 1/2 fees whilst she's there. I explained to mum that I could not afford not to charge and that if she did not retain the space I would have to advertise it, which could mean that I did not have space in the holidays. She was fine with it.

It is up to you what you do but I have always charged full fee whilst any child is at pre school. You are responsible for them whilst they are there and cannot fill that space, I have been called several times to collect early so have never felt guilty re charging especially now that they get funded to attend whereas when I first started they had to pay me and pre school fees!

Yes, I charge full fee if I take to nursery, and I am on call if he/she needs picking up because ill or banged head etc and if i collect. You cant fill a space for such a short time.

Hi, I have taken on two children who are starting nursery after christmas from 9 till 12. Both of these I will be taking and collecting, and will charge full rate whilst they are there. In effect they are taking two places, which I would not be able to fill otherwise. Both parents understood and were happy with that. One of the children is going to be term time only, but will not be charging during holidays.

I also charge whilst they are at pre-school , full fees as has been said they will need the place in the holidays. As long as you are clear about this before they start most people are fine with this.

Don't forget you'll be needing to hold their place for use during the holidays, why should you dip out in the term time?

Yes full fees for me too.
You wouldn't be able to fill those hours and also need to consider if the pre-school is closed etc and you would have them.

Full fees, especially because I would have to keep an eye on the time (only at pre-school for 2 hours) and because I would not be able to fill the space. xxx

I had this happen to me and i opted for half fees (during preschool hours)term time and full day fees during holidays

Hi, if you look in your NCMA handbook it tells you to charge full fees when the child is at preschool/nursery!! So I would charge full fees and if they query this then show them the relevant statement in the handbook to back you up!!! Good luck!

thanks for all your replys, now i understand why people charge while their at preschool, it makes sense and so i will do so to.
i never ever think to look in my hand book for these things, i forget its there

If i do the drop off and pick up they pay the full fee. If they want the morning place in the school holidays and they drop off at pre school in the morning and i collect from pre school i charge half fee.

before i finished minding i had charged a parent whilst the child was at playschool and then i decided i would carry on minding for a while and the mum of this child said that she would be going to another minder as she didnt charge during playschool hours

sadly lost out as i couldnt fill the space so it was not worth my while x

Full fees for me too. By the time I have hung around waiting for Pre School to open, then walked home, then a couple of hours later walked there again to pick them up I feel I have more than deserved the money!!
