pre-reg retainer fee

Hi,

I'm about to put in my application to ofsted, and I've already got a woman wanting a place for her baby, starting september. Providing she is happy with the risk that I might not be registered in time for her going back to work, she wants to leave a deposit to secure a place with me. Am I allowed to accept a deposit when I'm not even registered yet??

Welcome to the forum!

No you can 't take money until you are registered and have insurance and have informed hmrc that you are self-employed...

If you have done the dbs and medical check without any problems and you are doing ey2 now you should be reg before September ... but if you have other things to do it could still take a while x

I'm all done with dbs, medical etc, I got my application in to ofsted today, thats literally the last thing I've got left to do (bar get the house properly prepped!). I assumed i should be done before sept, but you cant help but be paranoid! If the parent can't put a deposit down, is there anything that can be done to reassure her? I'm happy to take her child, but obviously there will be nothing to guarantee I wont change my mind (from her point of view).
