I don't have it written in my policies - I just put on contracts that it's 4 weeks notice, still using old NCMA contracts - the small print on back (that I always make parents read through while we complete) says that 4 weeks can't include period of holiday.

I have the notice period on my contracts (MM), but in my fees policy I explain more about notice periods:

That 4 weeks paid notice is required to terminate a contract once the settling in period has passed.

That notice should be given formally in writing.

What I will do when notice is given/received - confirm, state last day of care, and the total of any monies due or to be refunded.

I also state that I reserve the right to terminate with immediate effect and under what circumstances that could happen:
Breakdown in working relationship, gross misconduct - with examples, such as dishonesty, theft or fraud; discrimination, harassment, bullying, abuse and violence; breaking confidentiality; Slander; Libel etc

I like to cover all angles
