So a child was off sick today and I usually charge for this but I did fill the space with another child............. Would you still charge or refund the parent of sick child as you filled the space??
Bit of a guilty conscience feeling!

If its in your contract to charge then I still would. If u don't this time every time the child is ill they won't expect to pay.

Do not sway from what your contract says.... if it says charge then charge - simple I would, the additional child is irrelevant.

Thanks all. I'll see the extra child as a bonus. Your all right if I change it once they might expect it again. X

you would be on dodgy ground though if charging for more children than you have spaces for i.e. charging for 4 under 5's instead of 3.
if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got

I don't understand, why? No where is there a limit on how many children you can charge for at any one time, yes there is a limit to how many you can care for at any one time, however, under variations 4 under five is permitted in any case.

Lets not make things too hard for ourselves we already have too many 'other people' telling what we should or shouldn't do with, imo, no idea what they are talking about or any idea of individual circumstances.

i can have as many children as i want on my books as long as only 6 children (with no more than 3 being under 4 years 3 months) are in my care at one time... if a child is off sick i am well entitled to offer the space to someone... the sick child cannot be in my care anyway

    I agree Koala.
If a child has not attended, and is unlikely to that day due to confirmed illness, and another parent rings to see if, as a one off, I could have a child for extra hours that day, I don't see how that would conflict with caring for the correct number of children.

    Unless I'm missing something too?

Charge as it's in the contract. Nice bonus with the space you managed to fill

My attendance register shows that the child was off sick and that I was still within my numbers. X
