    You could either:

Not take any payment, but should anybody want the space you give her the option of either using the space or loosing it to the other family

If she could manage half fees, then charge them to retain the place. May be handy if she needs care for interviews as she could use you for those occasions. However, she may not even need the same hours if she comes back.

Just say sorry, if she wants you still she needs to pay and if she can't afford it she will have to take her chances that you haven't filled the space by the time she wants it back.

I think it depends what you can afford to do and how quickly she thinks she could find something else or how easily you feel you could fill the hours.

I am sorry this has happened

In order for you to hang on to this space and be accommodating as possible
I would be asking her for half fees a mth to hold this space
Either that she has to be prepared to lose it .
