    Default Saturday fees

A question for those of you who work Saturdays.

I'm interested for the sake of comparisons, but hardly any other local CMs work Saturdays.

I'm currently handling an enquiry from a family with 2 schoolies, requiring care 9am - 5pm on alternate Saturdays. I'd suggested £10ph total, all inclusive of meals, etc. (so it's £5ph per child.) We've kinda stalled there as the parents don't know what to compare this against. They think a babysitter may be cheaper, but local babysitters here only really do evenings, and then seem to charge quite a lot.

So, what are others' Saturday rates if you don't mind me asking? and does my £10ph inclusive fee (to cover 2 children) look reasonable/competitive/crazy or what?

I charge about this and add on any expenses incurred. How can they compare an unregistered babysitter to a professional registered childminder??

I would charge the same as other days but, of course, it is your day off so you could add a small premium.

Not sure what you would normally charge during your routine working days but a little extra should not be too much or the parent may be stuck as you say babysitters only do evening and the parents would have to provide the food for her to cook
£5 sounds very reasonable...did it help?

I charge time and and a half for a Saturday and my fees are all inclusive.

My normal rate is £5 per hour so it would be £15 per hour for both on a Saturday.

I don't Saturdays as a rule but my clients occasionally use me for a day or a few hours and have been.happy with this.

I charge 50p more per hour on Saturday, don't work a Sunday but if I had an enquiry I would add another extra 1 pounds for a Sunday per hour

I would only do this if desperate for business and if I did I would charge at least £5/hour/child (my ad hoc and enhanced fee rate) rather than my usual £3.75/hour. I would also ask parents to provide a packed lunch.
I also find older children much harder to take care of for whole days as they seem to expect/want constant entertaining/direction as to what to do/play next, so I'd probably take them to a softplay or something which I'd pay for out of fees.

What you've quoted sounds very reasonable to me

I used to do the odd Saturday for one family and charged double fee. It was only for one child and back in the days when I charged £1.50 an hour!

I think £10 an hour sounds very reasonable for 2 children. You're first aid trained, experienced and the children would be in your house. Parents may be able to get a babysitter a bit cheaper, but will they find someone willing (and able) to look after the children for that long?

To be fair I would either say no or price myself out of the market as ds is 7 and needs some time without sharing me.

I sometimes work Saturdays in the run up to xmas as parents want a day for present shopping etc. I charge time and a half, so £6 per hour but I did discount that last time as had 3 siblings.
I don't think what you are charging is too much, especially as you are giving up your time off to do it.

I charge double time and would probably only do it for two children or more, not worth the hassle for just one. Therefore £14 per hour for two children

Would do it for less for current parents as a one off for something special, but that would be more as a perk for them.
Apologies for the random full stops. Phone buttons too small, thumbs too big.

I think £10 an hour for 2 children sounds like a very reasonable price especially as it includes meals. Think the mother should sign up immediately before you change YOUR mind!
