    Default Tax credits

    How long does tax credits take to come through. New parent started and a bit dubious of this

    Are you waiting for payment? It shouldn't matter how long they take from your point of view as parent is responsible for paying the fees regardless of whether tax credit payments have started for them. I know it's hard covering child care fees whilst tax credits are being sorted (I had to do this myself) but its your responsibility as the parent to pay the fees due.

    As Dawn says - don't be fooled by that old chestnut - the gas man doesn't wait for tax credits to come through to get paid and neither should you. ALWAYS get paid upfront, it saves a lot of kicking yourself afterwards.
