    Default social services payments

    Hi All
Just wondered if any of you that have children through social services/local council, put a payment date on your invoices?
I have a mindee that gets so much paid for by social services & at the moment they owe me 9 weeks payments.
I thought that if I started to put a payment due date on my invoices that it may speed things up a little, or is it this bad everywhere?

    Thankyou.

I can't comment on SS payments...sorry but I do get payments via a local college where one of my mums attend...
They like to be invoiced monthly and I always put a payment date on mine.
I find it doesn't hurry them up at all ...but I have started sending my invoices in a week or so early so that payments are a little bit nearer the time I like them to be

    Thanks Sarah.
I did think that next time I send an invoice I will put a letter with it requesting payment by x date & any invoices after that I will stamp "payment due in 7 days"
It's getting a bit ridiculous now, surely they realise that people need the money for Xmas.

Unfortunately SS are restricted by the councils finance department and it does depend on their speed. I have to invoice monthly for mine and when I first had LO it would take 6 weeks for them to pay an invoice this has changed to about 2 weeks for the last 2 years BUT someone is off sick in the councils finance department and I am waiting for August/September and now October payment I have just sent an invoice stating payment in 14 days or it will be placed in hands of insurance company. Will let you know how I get on. (Luckily it is only 5 hours a weeks!)

Can you imagine if you told the council you were unwell so wouldn't pay the council tax for 3 months

I send invoices and I say to be paid within 14 days and so far all 3 departments have managed. Try putting a date on and see what happens.

Tried it - doesn't work with my council - particularly when someone is off sick and the payments department grinds to a halt!

I've sent this week's invoice & have put payment due in 14 days.
I also printed a statement out & ask for all late payments to be brought up to date. See what happens when they receive these.

    Thanks for all replies.
