    Default School mums....

One of my charges is term time only because mum is a teacher. They pay me in advance at the beginning of each month. Wondered if anyone else had teacher mummies and how u work out the payment so ur getting paid throughout the year. I think it's called pro-rata. Anyone know the formula to work it out. Can't do anything wiv this one but if I get another teacher will do wiv them. Tia xxx

I bill a different amount each month but if you want to do it like that

you would take the weekly amount

    multiply it by 39

    divide it by 12

that will give you a monthly amount

The reason I dont do this is , what if they give notice , how will you work out if they owe you money or you owe them money

That's exactly what I thought. Is it worth the risk? Do I just keep it how it is and hope I get some holiday mindees to cover myself ? Thanx for your thoughts xxx

I have a spreadsheet set up where I enter the hours and fees due each week, this gives me an amount due per year.
Parents that wish to pay monthly I divide the yearly amount due by 12 payments.
I have another column that keeps a running total of payments made against fees due, so if a parent leaves before the year finishes I know how much they owe, or are owed - should they be in credit as it can happen doing it this way.

I use this to show parents where they are if they have a query over fees

Oh right. Thank you for that. May have a sneaky peak at that spreadsheet if you don't mind. At some point.

Or you could do what I intend to do the minute I can receive and not spend straight away lol is charge as normal and divide it between 12 yourself and put the remainder each month away to cover holidays x
