    Default Putting my fees up.

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good christmas and new year

I'm in the midlands and currently charge £3.50 per hour per child, this included all meals and snacks and outings.

I do not charge if child is ill, on holiday ect
I do not charge any extra if child only needs to come to me a couple of hours a week
I do no ask for a retainer fee/ deposit ect.

I do charge an extra £1 an hour if unsocial hours or weekends ( but this is rare)

I'm basically a pushover and working for nothing. I occasionally take a little boy to pre school, and earn £3.30!! Lol. I know it's my own fault but I've decided to change the way I work now as I feel I'm worth more!! Haha.

So my question is, if I was to put my hourly rate up how much should I go up and how many minimum hours should I charge for?

I used to charge £3 and then put mine up to £3.50. It was a big raise but it was in line with everyone else.
I told my families in writing after Xmas and said it would come into effect on march 1st giving them a few months to get used to the raise

I would definitely charge for mindees hols and illness as this opens up all kinds of problems if you don't charge. Families just having time off when they choose and no wages for you
I don't charge for my time off.
Time Out.. The perfect time for thinking about what you're going to destroy next.

    Hi

I am in the east midlands and charge £3.75 am hour with a minimum of 2 hours so if its just a school drop off from 8am say it costs £7.50.

This does include all food snacks and toddler group fees

I also charge if child is sick or on holiday but not if my own are sick and 50% of the fee for my holiday

I am not the cheapest around my area but also not the most expensive either there are some charging over £4!!

Good luck hope your changes work out for you :-D

I'm thinking of putting fees up to £3.75 per hour. Does that seem a fair increase?
Will also do the 2 hour minimum and charge half fee for child's days off.
I only have one part timer at the mo so lucky that I do t have a lot of parent to inform.
    I'm in Leicestershire x

Mmm just looked at childcare.co.uk and it will seem that the going rate for my area is £3.50 per hour. Don't want to put parents off for my fees being too high so I might stick to my £3.50 for full timers and increase to £4.00 for part timers, what do you think??
I'm thinking full time would be anything over 5 hours?? Really not sure now! Lol

If you are going to charge £3.50 then charge full for absences as that will make your money up plus a minimum number of hours.
£4 for part time seems fair but what is part time to you, so if they have three hours a day every day is that part time?

Make sure you are clear what you are going to charge for a variety of possible reasons so that when a parent says I want this you have some idea what you should be saying before you agree to something you regret later.

I have learnt that being overly generous can back fire - so now I charge full fee for all contracted days unless it's my holiday or sickness.

    I charge a minimum of 5 hours a day.

I charge £4.00 hr and £4.50 part time this includes lunch snacks outing plus £1 for a hot dinner. Full time is over 16 hours a week. I will be charging full rate if there off and won't be charging for my time off. I do think you have been very generous I would definitely review now while you only have the one little one. X
