    Default 69--->17?

    Am i right in thinking that at the mo we are using 69 early learning goals to cross reference our observations with but these 69 are going to be reduced to 17 in the revised eyfs?. This will make things a little easier right???

    I think they have just gathered a few goals together and called it one , they have only got rid of a few

    I thought it sounded too good to be true.

    Default Early learning goals 69.....17

    I went on a course about this new EYFS and the tutor reckoned she'd gone through the EYG's with a view to finding out what had been got rid. She found that in fact there are still 46 of them in the new EYFS. All they have done is grouped certain ones together.
    Sneaky devils aren't they?

    I think the goals you are referring to are the ones used by the reception teachers when compiling the child's Profile. There were 69 areas they had to report on and now there are only 17. As we don't compile the children's Profiles anyway it does not affect us.

    It is very unusual for childminders to use the ELGs ... those are normally evidenced by the child's teacher in reception.

    We just use the ages and stages from birth to 60 +.

    The only time you would use ELGs is if you were funded for a child who was still with you at age 5 - and then your local authority would have paperwork for you to complete.
