Default how can i write the positively

One of my mindees is starting nursery and has a home visit. I need to complete a summative report.

    I am stuggling under PSED.

Mindee is very quiet in my environment - he really doesn't speak unless spoken to, he doesn't help himself to toys, you always have to suggest things. But I know he isn't like this at home.

How can I put it positively ?

I think it is fine to be honest and say that he is a quiet child in your setting, but that he responds well to encouragement to join in, or play, or whatever.

You could say that he is shy away from the home environment and needs coaxing and give an example of this, and how he responded.

You have said some positive things there, kind of!
    Ideas:
x enjoys playing with .............. toys with some encouragement.
x is a very content child who enjoys adult led activities.
X has more confidence at home where he enjoys ...........

I wouldn't be afraid to spell out things that you feel are negative, be sensitive and surround these things with positive comments - it softens the negativity. Someone on here told me that!

where there are negatives, I ususally just say 'needs a little support with' or 'needs help to...'

so I agree with above, say he is a quiet child who needs a little support to with approaching others, initiating interactions, to select his activiites.

Then go into the positives, that once he is speaking, has chosen, he......

    good luck
