hoping i don't sound too daft, but are starting points where you find where the child is on the eyfs stages.?

how do we record this. ?
was thinking of highlighing the print off i have, and then going from there?

    Hi

Yes you are right - starting points are where the child is now. Make a note then plan next steps, observe, note, plan and so on

I use the ages and stages to mark off what they do when they start with me - for the first few weeks. This gives me a place to start to plan ahead to move on in the stages, I then date when I do an ob on the bit that covers it.

    Hi
I use a simple spidergraph with the 6 areas of Learning, I take 1 month to fill this in (for part timers) and then start the Learning Diary. I then use the same format for my planning for their next steps at the end of each term, so there is continuity and consistency and not too much complex notes for mum and dad to read. I do also ask them to help with filling in the starting points as well.
    Hope this helps
    Mel
