Newsletters

Hi all, was just wondering how many of you lovely people give out newsletters to parents, what do you put in them and how often??

hi im on my 2nd i do every 3mths i put info on anythink ie last one was we were collecting tesco vouchers.and bottle tops, what courses/training i was doing themes for the 3mths. any info parents need ie this one will have suncream hats reminders cant remember what else im sure others will be along soon

I do one every month. I put theme for the next month. What we have done the previous month including photos, information I want to share with parents i.e. we now have free milk delivered, my holiday dates. I put in important dates for the month, info from the school I collect from holidays and anything else that is happening. I sometimes struggle for space because I have so much to fit in.

I do one every 3 months.
I include what we have done, what we are going to do, birthday's, special events, holiday dates, noticies such as 'need to bring suncream and sun hat' etc.

Just a general summing up of what's been done and what's coming up.

I do pretty much the same of all above but also share recipes if I've done any cooking with the children and it is something they have all liked.

I used to do mine monthly but found that I did not not always have anything exciting/more to add from the last time. Now I do one termly and works well for me. I always start mine with a little update of what the children have been doing over the previous term ( including any topics and areas covered) , then what we will be doing that term ( very loose expalnation). Then things uch as collecting vouchers, reminders, burthdays, keydates from school/preschool and notice of my holidays ( cant say they have not had them then well in advance)
Im sure you'll find which option suits you best

Mine are much the same as the others. I do my around every 6 weeks depending on if I have any news. The older children contribute with jokes and puzzles and I include sheets for the kids to do, such as riddles, mazes, word searches etc so I often get requests for a newsletter before I have thought about doing one!

I have a whiteboard in my hall so use this weekly to inform parents of everything.
Much easier than doing a news letter.
I like the idea of sharing recipes, think I will start a recipe book to share.

I do one for the beginning of every half term. It talks about how the last term went, theme for the term ahead, my term dates, training I'm doing, reminders about hats/suncream/wellies etc plus any news, like when I got the grant....

I'm not sure any of them read it!

I stapled an extra not onto mine this term asking for term dates for people who aren't with me over the holidays and asking for dates people want off over the summer. I've had one reply.....

V1461 - You don't have to do them, some CMs do, some CMs don't. Its your business, you do what you feel like doing

All my mindees use daily diaries so I do not do a newsletter as it would simply duplicate what I had put in the diary.

I do not mind school children so the academic year and school terms do not have the same significance for me as they do for others, so if I had non-diary children, I think I would probably do a quarterly one.
