WOW MOMENTS QUERY

Hi

Just been looking at these wow moments that everyone is talking about (hadn't heard of them before. Anyway got some samples please see attachment. Am I ok to state wow moment and then just date so will have several different dates on one page?

I put lots of different ones on the same page.

I just have one page, not one for each area of learning, and write my note, which areas it covers (often it's more than one) & the date.

Oh yes I've seen that sheet before, can't remember where it came from though...?

Wow moments are those times when you are watching or listening to a child and you think 'wow' they just did / said etc.

They don't necessarily need a next step or a long comment, just a wow to remember to tell parents.

Ahhh! I knew I'd seen them before, you shared them ages ago didn't you?

They are lovely, really colourful and especially good because they don't encourage huge amounts of writing, just quick notes, which is all you need

I just pop a sheet into the journeys as it happens, with a photo if I have one.

One of my two year old's recently drew a three on a blackboard and said nummer three. I actually managed to photograph it before he rubbed it out (and you have to be quick with him!) and have a lovely picture for mum.

I have a 'wow' moments poster stuck on the wall where parents come in, I write on a post-it note when a child has a 'wow' moment and stick it onto the poster.
The parents love to read them, I try to write something for each child regularly. Then every couple of weeks I put them into each childs Learning Journey, sometimes with a brief next step.
OFSTED loved this, the child is proud to see their wow moment up in writing and gets lots of praise from their parent.
Parent have been known to praise other children, as well, after reading them.
