If one of them finds a "pig" and indicates that they wanted to play with the farm, then I rummage through the other 6 toy boxes with them and we find the pieces that will go into the farm. I make this into a game and the things they want to play with in the farm often has me in stitches, for instance the lo wanted the dolls bottle to feed the sheep, as he visited a farm recently to see the lambs being fed. If the dolls bottle was in the dolls toy box that would never have happened.
So thanks for letting me see your wonderful labels, they look great, but I will keep my messy system for a while longer.
Does anyone else work this way?
there is no set way on how to make use of things in your own setting.
i have boxes with toys in that are labeled such as knex, magnetix etc for the older children then cars box has a mix of trains animals and other transport but the label states cars .. other bits to enhance their play. same with farm box it has bits from the dolls house in it and most of the time the animals visit the dolls house.
i alos have a storage unit that was once tidy and organised but mindees decided my oranisation was rubbish and decided to colour code toys instead! now i have musical instruments mixed in with mcdonalds toys books fidget toys and who knows what else is in there .... BUT the children did it not me so i'm not putting it the way I want it to be as that would take away their personasliation of the room/mess etc.
Busy losing the will to live mwuahahahaha!
