    Default Attendance Registers

    Evening all.

Quick question must parents sign the attendance registers or is it ok just to record times of arrival and departure.

You can just log attendance time and departure times. signing isn't a legal requirement.

No need to sign- it is something that some pre-printed registers include in case you are doing invoices in arrears- so you can agree what hours a family used in a week/month and then bill them. But most people get paid in advance for contracted hours so no need to have registers agreed by parents.

I ask parents to sign 'to confirm hours worked' at the end of the month when I give them their bills - they get in the routine of doing it and it works for me.

No requirement but as they need to be kept for so long I think I might as well have them signed

I have a register that parents sign at the end of the month. The register, if I'm right, is something you have to keep for 21 years or however long. Diaries aren't something you need to keep for so long. I'd prefer to just have a document with ins and outs, along with the other necessary things, when I give up rather than keeping lots of diaries.

I get parents to sign attendance register at the end of every week and have done this since I started out. It's just something I've always done and has helped me with my record keeping and with what Ofsted want to see.
