Default How do people do there planning and assessment

This is just a general question. I'm not planning on changing the way I do things it's just I was told by the network support worker that my way of doing things is strong yet different from the norm. Therefore I just wondered how others did it. I know everyone does it slightly different but was just intrigued

My assessment grid is at the heart of mine. From here I plan as I can see areas of development the child is missing

From things I do on my planning I make observations if the child has done things. This goes in my learning journals. I may also make some spontaneous observations that lead back into my planning eg from interests

My observations then help me to update my assessment grid

My observations inform my individual planning ... and I use my play plans (example in free resources at the top of the group) to record it all.

I have very simple group planning for the older children
