First 2 yr old progress check - feeling proud of myself

Well, I've done my first 2 yr old progress check for my LO who had the HV check today

It's been interesting that's for sure.
I wasn't entirely convinced it would be welcomed by the HV having read some discouraging comments, if it was laid out right for anyone other than me, or if it'd be of any use whatsoever. I'd tried to speak to a local HV (any HV would have been good lol) but had been, for want of a better word, pooh pooh'd.
So, I've highlighted text in different age related colours as obs have been made, printed it all off, but it looked so impersonal I included a more personal history of LO, days attended, hours, routine when here, then a personal breakdown of the 3 prime areas, likes/dislikes etc, which shows much more of LO's personality, and a feedback sheet for the HV to fill in, asking if the report was helpful, was there enough information, was there anything missing that they would like/prefer to see, and a large space for any comments they might like to make.

Mum text to say 'they loved your report, and have given me back your feedback form to give to you'

Feeling so proud of myself tonight, like the old dulux advert 'I did that'

Can't wait to read what they've said and if I can improve anything!

My mindee had his check yesterday, the HV read what I had written about him first, and then said to the parents, well there is nothing for me to do really, it is all very informative and as this particular child will not do things on demand for anyone it saved everyone a lot of bother. HV just talked to him about his favourite things and then weighed him etc.

It's good to hear that in some places, HV's are taking our work seriously and are glad of our input with these 2 year checks

It's certainly a nice feeling that someone does appreciate all the hard work we do after all, that's for sure.

HV comments: Thank you for the copy of x's report, it was very thorough and we found it a useful tool to correspond with our own review. As we only get a snap shot of the children it helped us get a good overview of what he is like in other settings (outside of the home)
