2 year old check, do I need to do one?

When I went to the first training of the EYFS 2012, I asked if I would need to do the 2 year old check. One of my little ones has just turned three and the other one is 2 years and 8 months. They both had their 27 month check with the health visitor before I went for the training. I was told that I wouldn't need to do the 2 year check because the health visitor had seen them and it was for her.

Reading up on it now though I'm not so sure? Has anyone else heard the same as me? Do you think I need to do it?

We were told to do them regardless, but then purs don't get checks as such anyway. We have also been told its good practice to do summative assessments three times a year and if doing those don't need to do specific two year old checks.

I do regular summary assessments anyway which are very similar to the 2 year check...
