Default safeguarding courses online or in a class?

    hello,

I know we have to attend safeguarding courses/child protection courses every 3 years.
Can I do it online only without attending a class, or is it not valid ??
I have done child protection courses before so which one should I do if I do it online??
    thank you

In accordance with the new eyfs all courses must be local authority approved. So you will need to contact your local authority about which course you can do.

At the moment not many LAs are set up to meet the new requirement - you really need to speak to your local people

The online Awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect I completed earlier this year is invalid! Just been speaking to Norfolk early years lady and they don't recognise the course and I have to do their Introduction to Safeguarding course asap. Glad I've found out before inspection time!

I did my local approved course level 1 & 2 as required by LA last year. They said they were looking into an online course and I hope they have done so by the time mine needs renewing as it was a terrible rush to get there on time after work - 6.30 with no time for dinner (even the course leaders were late as they were in traffic ) only 2 evenings, but even so, it was a pain
Happy to be back with the Greenies

Make sure your online course is authorised by your Local Authority Mandy or it will not be valid!

Hi is it a requirement under the new framework to do safeguarding training. I no it needs to be aproved by your local council. its not like first aid that you have to do every 3 years is it?

    Thanks
