CSSIW Pre reg visit - Have my children there or Find babysitter?

Hello,

I have got my pre reg vist next tuesday morning and my mother has offered to have my two children for me (one is 1and the other 4).

I was wondering whether the inspector would rather me have my children present so she can see what I am like with children or do you think it is best if my mother has them so we have peace and quiet for the inspection and I am able to concentrate better?

Also all my policies and procedures were handed in with my application which have all been checked so was wondering was to expect from my inspection and what to have ready for her to see?

Hi

When I was first registered with CSSIW my inspector chatted to me about what I had put in my application and went through some policies and suggested some wording changes. She asked to see my driving licence and car insurance (business). She had a list of questions to ask such as "Why do you want to be a childminder?" "What would you do if someone of another race, religion asked to use your services?". She checked my entire house from top to bottom even though I was not registering upstairs. SHe checked my garden.

My children were older so were at school. Inspectors are used to working with children around so it is what you feel best for you.

If anything needs to be done then she will give you an action - Mine was to put a fire guard in front of the fire (was still in box) and change wording on a policy.
