    Default Twins

I currently have 1 space on a Wednesday and Friday yet a mum phoned to enquirer this morning about the space only she has twins. I was wondering how this works i remember something being said in my pre visit about twins being classed as 1 child but wasn't sure have tried to phone CSSIW only had no response yet and my previous inspector has left. So was wondering how other people had accommodate twins in the past.

Hi Anne thank you for your reply!

The member is in Wales so different rules apply with CSSIW.

However, English childminders do not need to apply to Ofsted for variations any more.

The twins will still count as 2 children. What may have been said in your pre reg is that often variations were allowed to accommodate twins. CSSIW are no longer dealing with variation requests as this is something we now need to self regulate (RA's must be completed along with a new statement of purpose which confirms the ages of the children you will look after plus how you will meet the needs of all children. This SOP must be sent to CSSIW). However they are still only allowed on the same principles as before so for continuity of care and not new business. Your inspector may allow this in certain circumstances say for example if there are no other alternatives in the area. You do really need clarification from them before going any further.
