CSSIW will send you a self assessment form and other paperwork at some point - this will tell you that an inspection is coming soon.

At that point I would let them know you're not minding and see if they can delay for a bit - it will give you as long as possible to get someone.

Your paperwork should be a never ending process of tweaking, updating, making sure it is relevant etc. You can then use changes you have made to talk about in your self assessment.

As Sarah says you will be sent a self Assessment of Service form to complete when your inspection is due. You can call to say you don't have any mindees and they may delay.

As for keeping up to date there are lots of ways. New developments are often posted on here, you can register for update emails on CSSIW website, if you are a member of NCMA you will get notice of legislative changes in various formats, your local FIS may be able to put you in touch with local minders. Not sure where you are in Wales but some local authorities are trialing NCMA Local which is a peer to peer support network which is another good way to keep up to date.
