    Default Olympics ideas

Ok I know its only January but what ideas do you have to do with the olympics? We are in Essex not far from where the Biking event will be, other than making a torch, visiting the site, making flags and having our own Olmpics, I cant really come up with any other ideas???
Thought it might be nice to have an entire sub folder with ideas in

Hi what about making a cake and decorating it like a flag, making a medal or reading sport related storys. I would also like to use olympics as a theme but its hard to think of activities to do.

as a brownie guider, and registered with Sainsburys active kids scheme I have been able to apply for their paralympic kit which they are giving away free. It arrived last week and is great a ball with bells in for 'blind football', blindfolds and a ball plus net for sitting volley ball. My plan is to have lots of sports using these and other balls, bats ropes etc depending on children's ages

thank you for sharing, some very good ideas. I've recently bought happylands sports race track which has athletes and athletes in wheelchairs too.I thought I had hid it,not well enough it was spotted by E who was very dissapointed when I said he could play with it when the olympics are on,now he asks every day if its the olympics i might have to give in

Went to my local Lloyds TSB bank today and picked up 'Get Involved in London 2012' a guide book and some other leaflets.

Brill shows cartoon pictures as well as real photos of people, some in wheelchairs.Gives dates of where to spot the Olympic flame as it travels around uk.

Think I will go and pick a few more up for my display.

    Thought I would share

Im also trying to plan ahead and think of things to with 1 and 2 year olds for the olympics, we are having a olympic sports day with other childminders. Im also thinking of making medals, decorating cakes, getting the littlies to design their own flag. Im absolutely stuck what else to do with this age range, and also want to include the paralympics in too, any suggestions please?

We decided to create our own opening ceremony for the Olympics which included singing, dancing and so forward rolls hilarious but great fun

Also talked about what sports are included and did some mimes of the different ones and looked at some clips on the pc. Got the children to think about which sport they would do and why.

Great afternoon of fun as well as making our torches,

    Sam
