    Default A Windy Day

Our topic today is the wind.
It is very windy here in Kent and the children are facinated in the weather today.

    I have a windy day box which we have taken outside, in it I have;

    Wind Chimes
    Pin Wheels
    A wind sock
    Flags
    Micro-kites
    Scarves, foil strips, ribbons
    Bubble mixture
Plastic tubes (which make noises when the wind passes through them)

We have read the story of The North Wind and the Sun.
We have sung songs & rhymes about wind

We have danced about like tree's in the wind with our branches blowing about, we have danced about with scarves and ribbons.

We have got out all our wind instruments from the Music box and looked at blowing into them to makes them work.

We have played with a balloon and tried to keep it up in the air by blowing and we have played Blow-football with straws.

We are going to make a pin wheel later and we are going to paint pictures using paint and blowing through straws.

I hope this had given you some ideas

Thank you for that! I will use it as the basis of my planning tomorrow!

I was thinking about making kites with bags and looking at parachutes and how they move in the wind.

The children can also tell each other windy day stories and we are exploring emotions quite a bit just now so they can say how it makes them feel.

we will tidy up the garden as long as it has dropped a bit too - there are toys all over the place.

I was also intending to get them up the ladders mending my car port

I hope you had a lovely day

Sounds like lots of fun. We're doing about winter and weather at the moment so will pinch some of your ideas. Thanks x
