    Default Crafty bits fromthe home

    Hi,

I and due to start my pre-reg course shortly and I'm fortunate I have 2 children (5mnths & 4yrs) so have a lot of toys I can use. However, I would like to start building up craft materials, things I would usually chuck or recycle. What can I use, I was thinking about the toilet roll cardboard, but can we use them? I am sure I heard something about not being able to use them for health & safety reasons, years ago but may be wrong.

What else would be good to start collecting?

    Thanks

As long as egg boxes & toilet roll middles look clean they are OK to use, so start collecting now

I save all sorts of things:

fromage frais or yoghurt pots are good for paint or glue pots

tissue paper. ribbon, buttons, clear plastic sweet wrappers, lolly sticks, cardboard boxes of all sizes.

cut out old cards or magazines for collage

small plastic drinks bottle to make shaker bottles

next time you're at a wedding, collect all the table glitter

I keep almost everything. Even dh now asks if I want something before he throws it away!

I keep all the tubs face cream/ body lotion comes in. Great for glue/paint/ little craft bits such as buttons.

A neighbour gave me some sheets and towels she didn't want .. Great for dens/garden.
Look on freecycle for things people are getting rid of ... You might find a good use for it :-)
