    Default Homemade Measuring Tubes

I made this activity last Sunday and a whole week and a half later it still a firm favorite, so thought some of you may like to make one. I saw the original idea on happy hooligans blog, and knew one of my mindees would love it who is always collecting all sorts of toys and putting them down tubes or into boxes. I had already made her a few weeks ago a shoebox with different size holes for posting, but thought this added the new twist of the items flying out the end and using height. I had 4 different size tubes and just stuck paper to them to make them look pretty, and then attached them to another piece of card, with some string at the top and it can now be hung off any door handle.

In the end all of the mindees have loved it and it has introduced new trial and error situations, as well as the hunt for finding new items to put down them. Lots of talk of fast and slow as well as wide and slim have been talked about. As well as lots of "oh oh's" and "yeahs" from my youngest mindee

    What a wonderful idea!

I have a couple of tubes in my treasure basket and the children do enjoy seeing what will fit through them.

Another hobby of mine is bottle tops i now must have over 400 of them. I have made them into alphabet puzzles (which i will put photos up on here in a minute), threading activities by putting holes in some, my own homemade abacus, a counting tray following the Montessori style of learning counting. I just love bottle tops and so do the kids, there is nothing better than just filling the play tray with loads of them and adding in the toy trucks and the kids play for hours with them

I'm trying to collect bottle tops - I only have about 10 as DH keeps throwing them away when he's doing the washing up!
