Yes we do. We do Mothering Sunday, Fathers Day and Christmas.

Last year for Christmas we made Spriced Christmas Biscuits and put them in cellophane bags. The year before we made Chocolate Truffles. We have made Pomanders using Tangerines instead of Oranges so the little ones don't have so many cloves to stick in.

One year i got some free carpet samples and the kids painted a design on them.
Have done truffles in a nice painted box.
Made a calender up using photos of the kids.
Older ones have made ear rings, necklaces, painted jewellry boxes.

This year we are going to do photo key rings and wind chimes.

Fraid not We made gifts for Mother's Day and Father's Day, together with cards and never got as much as a thank you from the parents, so not going to bother with Christmas

We'll be doing lots of crafty things - whether they decide to give them as presents or keep them for themselves is up to them

last year each child made their own christmas cakes, mixed it all, i did cooking,, then they iced it,,(wat a great mess)
then i had bought couple of things to put on top, wrapped in celophane, ribbon and a tag.,., (but sent them home on last day of minding, not a text to say thank u, untill i had to ASK if they had eaten the cakes, when the children came back in january,

but as they say its not what you get it is the , making it that counts.,
the children enjoyed making it and best of all i enjoyed it and the fun we had, the giggling children was the best present

    I am making them again
we did do other stuff but that is what i remember the most.

Thats very generous of you! I am doing porcelain painting at home which is more like 60p per mug, hope they appreciate you!

All sorts of craft stuff can be made into gifts, get some nice paper bags for the kids to draw on for wrapping paper, we do lots of hand anf feet print cards for various stuff. Planning on making some indian sweets for diwali, crafty crocodile have some lovely cheap plain bags to fabric paint on which are nice for xmas, book marks made of that magical scratchy paper stuff, painted mugs, plates etc, painted glass candle holders, love the clementine pomander idea

I've got little ones this year, so I've bought blank canvasses for them to get creative on!

They'll splash about with paint (brushes, rollers, hands etc) and we'll just see what lands on the canvas. When they're dry I'll spread glue on them & give the children bits to stick on. It'll be hit & miss what makes it onto the canvas, but that's part of the fun of it! Every picture will definitely be origional!

Last Christmas we decorated candles and the glass holders (older children) younger ones I did photos inside snow globes. Not ONE parent looked happy at their creations and one even dropped it on the drive and it smashed everywhere!!

This year I'm not sure what we are doing I was thinking maybe salt dough xmas tree decorations or Christmas biscuits.

that is so sad, my kids are always so excited and proud when they make anything for me, I cant imagine not being pleased to receive something they have put so much love into.

I think I am really lucky with my parents, but then I also cant imagine not being pushy about how fab the kids are if they tried not to acknowledge a present. Is that a bad attitude?

Yes I have had that too, one mindee made mummy a special birthday present, and no thanks or nothing, never mentioned! But the kids enjoy doing it and giving it to mummy and daddy, so I will be doing it....for the sake of my mindees and not the parents!!!!
