Thanks Angel! It's wonder I haven't seen this thread before, isn't it! ha

I am glad I saw this, as I have a parent b-day next week and this would be an excellent gift (plus I have an empty box that I have had for months now and not know what to do with it!)

Just incase anyone wants a cheap present for a parent and you like this idea then ......

They are doing small boxes which are ideal for this in the card factory and the works for 49pence each in nice silver or gold colours

we printed the poem and rolled it up with a pretty ribbon around it (scroll style), and gave it with the box. hope that helps?

Too late to send to my parents for Christmas this year but I am going to do this with my DD for their birthdays in January. Mom's is the 9th and Dad's is the 13th.

That's so precious! In fact, she might make one for Daddy's desk at work, too.

Thanks for bumping this up, Angel.
Why is "phonics" not spelled the way it sounds?

ive done this for a few years now and the parents love them wat i do is make tiny envelopes and fold poem up and pop it in the envelope that way the ribbon stays tied as stated in the poem. xxx

Ive just made these using those clear boxes that xmas cards come in , so mindees mums can see the contents , lots of love!!! just clear box , ribbon and the poem on a 'gift-tag'. so simple , but i know one mum in particular will really treasure it.

Hi Angel, my youngest son made me one of these boxes whilst in nursery school. When he gave it me and I read it it brought a tear to my eye.I keep it in my draw when I see it makes me smile. The simplest of gifts are the best.x
