I mixed in extra cornflour and then heated it slowly in the microwave and that did it.

The recipe on the imagination tree is almost the same as the recipe I use for my normal playdough - which I got many years ago from BBC website
1 cup plain flour - imagination tree uses corn flour
1 cup of water
1/2 cup salt
2 tbsp cream of tartar
2 tbsp vegetable oil
food colouring - or add silver glitter
mix together dry ingredients, add the water, mix until smooth, add glitter, followed by oil
Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly until the dough leaves the side of pan in a ball
Allow to cool before use - although I love playing with it when still warm!
Don't worry about the saucepan, just soak it and any dough stuck on just lifts off again.

when you say a pack of cornflour ... how much is that? as I buy mine from a local grocer and just weigh out whatever quantity I want!
thanks

haha, lol! not sure the size of box you get in the shops - prob same as a small bag of flour?? Haven't got one in at the mo to check. I had to use 2 boxes as it was for our 52 chidlren at nursery but that was plenty for them - four at a time at the messy table.
if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got

finally got round to making the white playdough today ... its fun, but it does seem to dry out!
maybe because I only used half the water, as that seemed to make the dough? ... maybe I need to add more water and try the microwave for the other half!
ah ha! I tried microwaving it and wow! lovely soft playdough! although as I used veg oil, its a touch yellowy ... might try babyoil next time? although last time I tried babyoil in normal playdough, it was slightly oily no matter what I did!
