Wow ! That made for interesting reading. Thank you for posting it.
The 3 hrs care between friends and family is wide open to abuse I think, as in maybe stretching it to 4 or 5 hrs? Also what about Safeguarding, DBS and first aid if left with a neighbour or whoever. We will be losing more children as parents feel the pinch financially. Before and after school clubs have been used here locally for 19 years but have never affected me YET! Wonder what else they will be coming up with in the next few days?
Did I read that right, no learning journals?!
That was my thought exactly, think it will b something I continue regardless. It just surprised me
Thank you, I have skimmed though it. I really like the idea of the childcare registeres being more aligned as I have always found it strange that there are so many different sets of requirements.
I do wonder if there will be much work left for childminders. Unregistered providers will be able to offer 3 hours a day, making it easier for them to do before and after school care, schools are being encouraged to offer more before and after school and holiday care, schools are also being encouraged to take on 2 year olds, while nurseries are being encouraged to expand and they want to recruit more childminders...
I am finding it hard to fill my spaces as it is and all of these changes might just make my business unsustainable.
Thanks, interesting reading. I agree that the 3 hours a day is open to abuse in more ways than one especially re lack of first aid or safeguarding training. What it doesn't say is whether or not the people looking after the children for the 3 hours will be limited to the number they can have or whether they can be paid or not. If they can't I can see a lot of cash in hand going on!

At the moment the same applies for 2 hours anyway. Is an extra hour really going to make much difference. It will mean more settings being unregistered tho. I used to work in a Crèche and they planned there sessions for under 2 hours purposely so they didn't have to be registered.
More Affordable Childcare is nothing else but step by step 'deregulation' ...cms agencies first and then work the way through to other services
There will be nothing left for cms
The least of my worries is LJ...we know good cms will still do them!
Read between the lines !!
