Are they serious!! What on earth have they been doing all this time, while the rest of us are carefully monitoring the learning and development of the children in our care. I'm just annoyed there is nowhere to add a comment

I take offence at the busy mum this and busy mum that. I find it insulting they are saying parent s are not teaching basics to their child, when in my experience it comes fairly naturally to most parents to count, teach colours and give their children plenty of learning opportunities.

I really don't like it when childcarers, childminders included, dismiss parents and how they bring up their children, and get on their high horse that WE teach them everything.

Sorry that article got my goat !!

WOW!!! Aren't they great! I wish I had known all of this years ago, ground breaking stuff here. They should publish their findings and maybe the rest of us can follow in their footsteps.

You were right my blood pressure is raised x. How out dated are they? Its new to monitor progress is it? Also it is evident how much some parents do with their lo's when they arrive in our care, if they arrive later. If they arrive at a young age it is also evident that parents carry on what we are doing with lo's and vice versa.

For once Im actually speechless , if they think that they are pioneering then I think Truss may actually
have a point about the standard of learning in Nurseries

mind you , Ive minded and worked in nurseries and I provide a much higher standard than any nursery Ive worked in as do the majority of
    minders i know

Im going to have to stop reading such things on this forum as its seriously affecting my health

Im starting to think we are invisible !

    I agree! They could give it a name...like...I don't know...EYFS?

I've been lucky enough to work in/ take my children to some genuinely caring nurseries that understand what children need to flourish, and I think their blood will be boiling at this article too!

I think it's just a cheap marketing trick to make parents think they're doing something new.

If they are raising the bar, all I can say is they must have lowered it first

I particularly liked the david beckham reference so child led play obviously hasnt been discovered by them yet :-D

What they are trying to do is to 'teach us to suck eggs'...no disrespect but I think they are on a loser here!

You mean we are only meant to check on there progress every 12 weeks and not every time we see them, and here was me watching the children, interacting with them getting to know them so I can see what problems they might have for no reason.
