    Default Expenses

    Hi guys,

Im new and waiting to be registered. I have a question regarding expenses.
I have no idea what I can claim for? i.e rent/utility bills/petrol etc.

I would be grateful if anyone could give me ideas on the percentage of things I can claim for. Also do I claim for the start up costs such as toys and stuff?

    Many thanks

    Hello and welcome

It can be very confusing to start with. There is a useful documents in free resources on this forum expenses and tax - by Sarah

If you are going to use the Pacey accounts book they explain at the beginning of the book about percentages and expences too. I use an excel workbook that happy toddlers sharecd with us that works out the percentages for utilities for you, you input your hours worked and it just does it . http://www.childmindinghelp.co.uk/fo...k-updated.html - post 88 has the latest version for the 2014-15 year.

With petrol I use the 45p a mile method as I find this easiest.

I would suggest for the first year using the Pacey book - it may be more expensive than some online spreadsheets but the details that they provide in the book and online support will save you in tax. After you know what you are doing maybe use something else that won't cost to have.

Always happy to answer questions so fire away if you need help.
