    Default National Insurance Help Please

    Hi again

Just tried ringing about this and put the phone down after being on hold for 20 minutes so hope someone on here can answer my question. I am starting to work from tomorrow and only for a couple of hours a day so I won't be earning enough to pay NI Contributions. Do I have to register to pay for class 2 contributions and then apply for the exemption because I will be a low earner for this year or do I just fill in the low earner form and send it off to them. Hope this makes sense. Thanks again for your help.

    Read this first.

You must register as self employed; use the form on this page but don't expect to hear anything back until the middle of March. If you still want to apply for the exemption, send in the form on this page.

Can I say Mr Anchovy that that makes more sense to me than all the blether HMRC have given me when I've spoken with them.

I get HRP and thought it was maybe waste of money to pay NI contributions but can see now that it isn't.

    Thanks
