    i am taking my hubby on as my assistant as he is not working at the moment and can not find a job . can i take him on as a volunteer as i dont wont to pay him as the money we get is ours anyway .

    My dh is registered as my assistant. He only helps in the holidays but I don't pay him.

    If you earn enough to pay tax you might be better off as a partnership - you get to earn up to the £7225/£7475 thresholds before paying Class 4 NI and Income Tax, although you would have to look at how this would affect any benefits he is entitled to.
